Personnel Management Artifact 1

The purpose of this memo is to document a verbal warning that your performance in the area of Absenteeism and Tardiness is unsatisfactory.  It is very important that you arrive to customer meetings and trainings on time to maximize the investment of the customer group’s time.

The guideline as given in the standard performance review is as follows:

Meets Standards:  Good observance of working hours, only routine absences from work

Needs Improvement:  Frequently late or absent from work as noted below.

Unsatisfactory:  Excessive absenteeism & tardiness; definite pattern of absenteeism

As an Application Support Analyst, you are expected to be on time to seminars and to manage the class.  Arriving early, checking equipment and classroom and being prepared are all part of the job.  You have been consistently late to customer meetings, internal meetings, and arrival at work.  This has impacted our customers negatively by making large groups wait to begin a training or meeting.  Most recently you were late to a planned lab here at SCCOE with Santa Clara Unified School District on June 22nd.  This interrupted a team member’s work while they filled in as best they could for you while the customer was waiting.  Previously this spring you had 20 people waiting at Santa Clara Unified over 30 minutes for their seminar to start without word from you.  The time lost is more than the amount of time you were late.  After that type of disruption it takes additional time to focus the group and engage them in the task.  This kind of situation negatively affects our reputation and therefore all of SCCOEs ability to server our districts.

When not leading a training or at a customer meeting you are expected to be at your workstation and ready to begin work no later than 9:00am.  Effectively immediately, if you are not able to be at your workstation by 9:00am you are to call me at 408-453-6726 or Lucy Lopez at 408-453-XXXX and provide an estimated time for arrival.

You requested a change of schedule to 10:00am – 6:30pm due to system response issues during the day.  To help complete the year end process I am going to allow your request through August 31st - however, any tardiness during this time will result in reverting back to an 8:00 – 5:00 standard schedule.

Everyone has personal circumstances however it is part of your job requirement to be on time and present. I suggest you create systems and processes to ensure you are on time such as managing your calendar, leaving home early/allowing extra time for traffic. Your circumstances are yours to manage.  If you need assistance with developing new strategies for life maintenance Concern may be able to help.  Their contact information can be found on the SCCOE Intranet.

Additional chronic tardiness and absenteeism may result in additional disciplinary steps.
